Night-time=party time

So Konnor slept for 3 hours at a time at night for a total of two nights.  It was wonderful while it lasted :)  Then he decided he wanted to stay awake from 5-7am.  That wasn't too awful, although being awake those two hours when you are already exhausted is not enjoyable.  Then last night he decided he wanted to not even attempt going to sleep until around 5:30am.  Let's just say it was a very long night.  I did manage to take a nap today for a little bit while he slept, but its not as easy as you would think to just "nap when they are napping" like everyone tells you.  At least it isn't easy for me.  I love naps and took them all the time while I was pregnant, but now I just feel like there are other things I need to be doing during the day and it's not always easy to just drop everything and "nap" when he does.  No matter what his sleep schedule though we will figure it out and survive!  There could be much worse things to worry about.
On the bright side we ordered some new gadgets to try and make life with Konnor easier, and they arrived this week.  One of them was the Mamaroo.  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Kelso for the early Christmas present!  The Mamaroo has been wonderful!  We discovered that Konnor likes car rides and the Mamaroo sways in a bunch of different settings, one of which is the car ride setting.  Konnor is usually content to nap in the Mamaroo once a day which gives Korey and I time to eat dinner, get stuff done, or just hang out together for a little bit.  Tonight the Mamaroo made it possible for Korey and I to put up and decorate the Christmas tree.  Another thing we ordered was the car seat adapter to use in our Baby Jogger stroller that Grandma and Grandpa Witt got us!  It works great and Konnor and I took a 40 minute stroll around the neighborhood yesterday.  He slept the whole time and I had the freedom of taking a walk whenever I wanted and not having to wait for Korey to be home or free so he could watch Konnor while I went for a walk.
Hopefully over the next few weeks we will figure Konnor out a little more and maybe he will decide that sleeping at night is a good thing again :)  For now though we are enjoying watching him get bigger already and seeing his little features start to change as he gets a little chubbier in the cheeks.  We will figure out this whole sleep thing and make sure we take our naps if we need them!  We're also super excited to be spending our first Christmas as parents even though Konnor is too young to know what is going on.  We will enjoy it for him :)  We can't wait to see all our family at Christmas and hopefully we can make it home some time soon so we can see our friends too!

Konnor's first Thanksgiving

We all survived Konnor's first Thanksgiving! On Wednesday I wasn't even sure if we would all make it until Thanksgiving. Konnor got circumcised on Tuesday and slept through pretty much the whole day afterwards except waking up to eat. But Wednesday was a whole other story. On Wednesday I'm pretty sure he was sore and he did not sleep at all from 11am until about 12:30am. He was also fussy and cried a lot which is not normal for him. Neither Korey or I were able to nap that day and poor Korey was trying to adjust his sleep pattern so he could go to work that night and start the night shift. Korey had to leave around 9 for work and by 1230 I was exhausted and Konnor was reaching the peak of his fussiness. Finally in the midst of his screaming I remembered Grandma Witt telling us that Korey was fussy as a baby and that they took him for car rides to calm him down. So at 1230 I put Konnor in his car seat and we set out to drive around the neighborhood! Right around that time as if he sensed I needed him, Korey called to check on us so I had someone to talk to while we were driving around. We drove for about 30 min and thankfully by the end of the ride Konnor was out. He managed to sleep the rest of the nigh too and only woke up long enough to eat!
After some much needed sleep, we decided to be brave and to go to our friends house for Thanksgiving. Konnor was great and slept the whole time we were eating and he didn't wake up until we were finished! We were so glad we decided to venture out for Thanksgiving. The food was AMAZING and the company even better. We really appreciate our friends Catherine and Jason who made us all wonderful food and welcomed us into their home. We are also thankful that they were planning to make us food and deliver it to us if we decided we didn't want to try and take Konnor out. We missed our family but are glad we had some great friends to spend the day with! We are looking forward to seeing all our family at Christmas though.
I'm super excited for Christmas. It's my favorite holiday. I love this time of the year. I'm ready to start listening to Christmas music, decorating the house, and going shopping! I hope Konnor's first Christmas goes as well as his first Thanksgiving did!

Just a little sleep deprived... :)

It's been a little over a week and things are going pretty well.  Konnor eats, sleeps and poops the day away!  I need to get better at taking naps during the day while he is sleeping!  For the most part he sleeps for at least 2-3 hours at a time through the night, but for some reason the past few nights he has no desire to sleep from about 12-2.  Unfortunately Korey was on the shift where he was getting home at 12 from work, and Konnor was fussing and both of us were pretty tired!  Now that we expect he'll be awake that time its been a little easier to accept and trying to take a nap before then or sleeping in longer has helped :)
We had an appointment today and found out he now weighs 8lbs. 1oz.  This made us super happy since we were worried about him eating when we left the hospital.  He was in the nursery the first few days and feeding wasn't going very well.  So we worried about him gaining weight.  He was 7lbs. 2oz. when we left the hospital so it was good to hear he's gaining weight now that we're home and he's eating better!
The Grandmas came down to meet Konnor and help out for the first week!  They were a BIG help!  It was nice not having to worry about cooking, cleaning, laundry and more for the first week.  They also both enjoyed plenty of snuggle time with Konnor.  We were very happy they were both able to come down together and be with us!  I'm sure they can't wait until Christmas when they get to see him again! :)  Uncle Kody also came down for the weekend to meet and hang out with Konnor!
Chloe and Bella seem to be adjusting to having a new brother in the house!  Chloe loves to try and lick his toes and smiles every time she smells him.  We're not quite sure how Bella feels yet.  She likes to sniff at him and then just walk away.  We definitely know she does not like when he cries.  If she is in the same room she usually gets up and walks out :)  We've been trying to make sure we give both of them a lot of attention still!
I think that's all for now. We'll do our best to try and keep this updated with new pictures and information :)  In case I don't post anything before Thursday, We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Konnor is here

Konnor Edward Witt was born on Saturday, November 10th at 11:22pm. He weighed 7lbs 7oz. and measured 22 inches long. We fell in love with him instantly :). It was a long day of labor and the hospital stay was a little stressful but I will save all of that for another post.
We are now home and getting into a rhythm and enjoying our new role as parents! Even though Korey wasn't in labor and didn't give birth he did not get a lot of sleep the night before and none the day of his birth and he was wonderful. He never freaked out, he helped everytime I had a contraction and the whole experience would've been a lot worse without him! He was amazing.
Even though we are now posting stuff on Facebook we are going to continue trying to keep up with the blog so we can share more details and pictures with family and friends. So feel free to keep reading :).
Thank you to everyone who kept our secret, who shared in our happiness with us, who offered advice and help now that we are home. We appreciate and love all of you!!
