Earlier Bedtime

Well I let almost ten days go by again without writing!  Oops.  I feel like the scavenger hunt that I wrote about last was so long ago.  The week after the scavenger hunt, Korey spent most of his time preparing for his interview.  On Friday night we missed out on going to a bonfire with our friends because it was too cold out and we didn't think it would be good to take Konnor.  We really need to find a babysitter!  On Saturday Korey ran his first ever half marathon and did awesome!  He finished in 1hour and 49min.  Konnor and I went to cheer him on!  We were very proud of him.  During his training Korey swore he wasn't going to run another half marathon.  After running though I think he may attempt one some other time in his life! :)  He won't be able to resist trying to beat his time!  You can check out his pictures here.  We love the one with Konnor!
The night of the race some of our friends were having a going away party.  Sadly they will be moving in a couple weeks and we will REALLY miss them.  We wanted to go to the party and so we were planning to take Konnor with us.  Lucky for us though, our other amazing friends who have a son were leaving their son behind with his grandparents and they offered for them to watch Konnor also.  So we had a night out without Konnor which was nice.  We missed him while we were gone but we knew hew as in good hands and it was nice to have a little time to ourselves and with our friends.  On Sunday, Korey flew up to Pennsylvania for his interview that he had on Monday.  He feels it went okay and he even got to see some snow while hew as up there!  He flew back down here on Tuesday and had to go into work a couple hours after arriving.  Konnor and I were lucky enough to be invited to dinner at our friends Jason and Catherine's house one night, and we also walked the bridge with Catherine and her son Beau one day and then had some Starbucks afterwards!  It's always nice to get out of the house and hang out with friends!  Especially when Korey is on this shift and he is gone all afternoon and evening.
So that brings us to this weekend.  Korey has to work and so Konnor and I will probably  just hang out here Saturday.  We have a movie night planned with Jill Saturday night at the house.  Sunday we might go to the big oyster roast at Boone Hall again, but we aren't sure if we want to go spend the money or not!  We will keep you updated.  We went last year and it was fun, and I had an oyster for the first time.  I did not enjoy it haha.
As for the earlier bedtime... Konnor has been going to sleep now around 8-9pm and sleeping for around 4 - 4.5 hours before waking up. After eating he goes back to sleep usually for at least another 4 hours.  This is great that he is sleeping earlier.  However, I am not ready for bed at 8 or 9 even when I'm really tired.  I just can't fall asleep. So... I only get a couple hours of sleep during his first long stretch of sleeping if I get any sleep at all.  I sleep all through his second 4 hours, but that still leaves for not a ton of sleep and its still broken up.  But... sleeping earlier is progress and he is sleeping for consistent times so I'll take it! :)  I'm still hoping some day he decides to sleep at least 6 hours at a time all the time!  I'm sure that's wishful thinking though!
Hope everyone elso who reads this is still doing well!  I don't really have a lot of new pictures.  My phone keeps getting filled up and then i forget to load the pictures on the computer and it also prevents me from taking new ones.  But i'll get on that for next time.  I also still need to take pictures off my nice camera and put them on the computer!  But some day when I have some free time I'll eventually get to it!

Scavenger Hunt and Sleep

This past weekend our friends organized a fun scavenger hunt around downtown Charleston.  It involved going to several bars and places around Charleston and taking fun pictures.  We split up into two teams: boys vs girls of course.  Konnor however was on the girls team :)  We brought him along with us and I carried him around in the baby carrier the whole time.  It worked out perfectly.  Not only did I get to participate and have a great day, but he took a long nap while we walked around and got to visit several bars in Charleston for the first time haha.  I definitely got some interesting looks and heard a few people mentioning there was a baby in the bar.  But it was a Sunday in the afternoon and most people thought it was funny not strange.  Korey and I both had a blast getting to hang out with our friends, and the weather was amazing.  It was definitely shorts and tshirt weather, and it's only JANUARY!  That is why I LOVE living in Charleston!
Here are some pictures from the Scavenger Hunt.  The girls were team Black Out, and the boys just wore interesting shirts haha.

Out on the scavenger hunt!

The night of the scavenger hunt, Konnor slept for 7 hours straight.  That is the longest he has slept through the night yet.  It was wonderful.  Of course it did not last and the past two nights he went back to sleeping for 3 hours at first and then waking up every hour.  Hopefully some day he will consistently sleep through the night.
This week Korey will be getting ready for his interview that he has next Monday!  He will also be doing his final training runs for the half marathon on Saturday!  Hopefully the weather is nice for his run so Konnor and I can go watch!  Thursday night our friends are having a bonfire on the beach.  We will have to see what the weather is like before I decide if I can go with Konnor.  There is also a party on Saturday that I most likely won't be able to go to because we have not found a babysitter yet.  I feel a little better about finding one now though since Konnor has taken a bottle a few times and is less fussy at night.  It's just hard finding and trusting someone!
Also.. a Friend recommended a book to me called The Happiest Baby on the Block.   It's a really easy read and has a ton of great information for calming crying babies.  I wish I had read it sooner.  It is almost pointless now that Konnor really isn't that fussy anymore, but I would definitely recommend it to all new parents.  Even now I'm sure there will be times when Konnor has a major meltdown and I'll be glad I read the book :)
Hope everyone has a good week!  I'll make sure to post about the bonfire and Korey's half marathon sometime soon!

2 month shots, running, and the lip...

Konnor is now two months old!!  Some days it seems like it is going too fast, and other days it seems like it isn't going fast enough :)  I don't want him to get old too quick, but at the same time it will be nice to see him responding to us more, sitting up on his own, sleeping through the night...
He got his first shots on Thursday.  The receiving the shots part did not go too bad.  He screamed a little right as he was getting the shots, but he recovered quickly and even smiled at us after.  When we got home from the appointment he slept a little and seemed like he was doing okay!  I went for a run that night and as soon as I left the house, Konnor started screaming and crying and poor Korey had an inconsolable baby for a good 30 minutes.  When I got back from my run I googled stuff about first shots and found that taking the band aids off sometimes helps!  It did!  Almost as soon as we took the band aids off, he stopped screaming.  He still cried a little after that while we gave him a bath and tried to massage his legs a little, but nothing like the screaming he was doing before.  We also ended up giving him a little baby Tylenol.  He slept pretty normal that night (which lately means not for very long at all and waking up every hour).  By the next day he was all good to go!
This week I actually got to run quite a bit and I love it!  Sometimes I hate when I'm actually running, but it feels good to know I'm running so much again and working at getting faster again.  The Princess Half Marathon is going to be here before I know it!  I ran 6 out of 7 days this week and I ran a total of 22 miles!  Hopefully I can run a couple half marathons this year and a bunch of 5ks.
The lip... Konnor now has been giving us what we call "the lip" when he is about to get upset.  He sticks his little lower lip out into a pout and gives the saddest (but also cutest) little look before he starts to cry or gets upset.  It is like our little warning that he is about to have a meltdown over something!  As sad as the lip is, it is also one of the cutest things he does.  Every time we see it now we just say "oh no... there's the lip" :)
Overall things are going pretty well.  The only thing I would change is the sleeping!  I don't know how he went from sleeping 4 or 5 hours at a time and then even twice sleeping 6 hours.. to now waking up so often.  He isn't hungry when he wakes up, and he doesn't need anything other than to be rocked back to sleep.  Luckily the pack'n play is at the end of the bed and so I can usually just crawl down there and rock him back to sleep pretty quick and then go back to sleep myself, without really waking up completely.  I just wish he would sleep through the whole time since he goes at least 6 hours before he gets hungry at night.  Oh well.  Maybe some day again.  Until then I'll just be good with taking naps and continue to get better at sleep crawling and rocking :)
Here are a few new pictures!  Some are from Konnors first real trip to the beach!  The weather has been beautiful the past few days and so we went down to the beach for a couple hours in our upper 70's weather! :)

Monday is over!

I figured I better post an update from yesterday since it was a post full of complaining! (sorry)  Konnor started to nap as I was writing yesterday and he slept for about 2 1/2 hours during that nap, which meant I got at least a little over an hour nap.  I felt much better after the nap!
I also got to go for a run last night.  Last week I started trying to run more consistently again after I went to my postpartum appointment and they said everything was fine.  It seems like I run so slow now and sometimes its a struggle to even do 2 miles, but its getting better!  I'm thankful that Korey and I both are active and that we make sure we each get our chance to go for runs!  His half marathon is coming up very soon, and then I'll have to start running more because my half marathon is at the end of February.  I'm super excited to go run in Disney again!  Disney races are my favorite.  I'm sad that Courtney and I missed the Wine and Dine Half Marathon this year because Konnor's due date was right around the time of the race.  In fact, Konnor was actually born on the day of the race!  But since we missed that one we decided to try the Disney Princess Half Marathon, which I think will be just as fun.  The only difference is the wine and dine one is at night and the princess one is super early in the morning.  I am not a morning person.  Neither is Courtney.  This could be interesting!
I'm also excited that Konnor will get to go to Disney for the first time!  I know he won't remember it, but we will! :)  I'm sure we will take lots of pictures to show him some day!
I need to start taking more pictures again.  I don't have any new ones to post.  I actually just realized I posted the same picture two posts in a row!  My phone is full so I have to empty some pictures off of it! Then I can take more!

I think I might have to order a pair of these for Konnor for our trip!

A case of the Mondays

I don't even work and I have come down with a case of the Mondays today.  Sometimes it feels like we get one step ahead with Konnor, and then go three steps backwards!  For two nights he slept for 6 hours at a time!  It was amazing!  But only lasted two nights.  Then he went back to sleeping for 3 1/2 hours at a time for one night, and last night he decided to only sleep for 1 or 2 hours at a time.  Needless to say I am exhausted today!!  I miss those wonderful two nights of 6 hours of sleep!  The sleep wouldn't be so bad except that he also decided to not nap much today.  Normally during the day Konnor will take a couple naps that are at least an hour long.  So far he's only taken two naps that lasted 30 minutes at the most.  He is now asleep again at 4pm so fingers crossed this one lasts a little longer so I can maybe take a little nap too! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spending time with Konnor.  I love when he is awake and happy and smiling and cooing.  But today I just want a little extra sleep! :)
On the plus side we went to brunch with some people on Friday and he slept pretty much the whole time and didn't get fussy until it was time to leave.  Even then he was only fussy because he was hungry!  We also had people over for a game night and he did great.
Sorry this was mostly a rant about needling sleep but I'm going to go real quick and hopefully get a little nap in before he wakes up.  Then I have to go for a run!  I promise I'll write more soon that isn't all about sleep! :)
Had to add some pictures of course!  Enjoy!
